Every individual that is great at what they do was once a rookie. Let that sink in. If you don’t think “oh shit” to yourself for even a millisecond you’re a damn liar. And, I’ve always said, “there are two types of people in this world: people that pee in the shower . . . and liars”.
Believe it or not there was a time when Michael Jordan hadn’t touched a basketball, when Steve Jobs was a screw up, and Prefontaine hadn’t walked yet (much less ran). Through trial and tribulation we find ourselves and add purpose, direction, and definition to our lives. Scott (I know I usually don’t give names but he doesn’t mind) always gives me this bit when I’m complaining about this, that, or the other — “you’re always exactly where you’re supposed to be” — and every time it smacks me in the face anew.
Adversity doesn’t hold us back or knock us down, it creates us. embrace it.
